The Fountain of Wealth In Singapore

The Fountain of Wealth In Singapore

In 1998, the Fountain of Wealth was entered into the The Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest fountain – a title it held for several years. Located in the heart of Singapore, the Fountain of Wealth calls Suntec City, one of Singapore’s biggest shopping malls, “home”. In fact, the fountain was designed to be the hub of the shopping mall.

During preset times of day, the fountain’s jets are turned off so that visitors may walk around and explore the miniature fountain at its base. Visitors are encouraged to collect a few coins for luck. Between the hours of 8pm and 9pm, the fountain puts on stunning laser light displays, in addition to laser message dedications and live songs.

What many people do not know is that the Fountain of Wealth was designed according to the principles of Feng Shui. In the Chinese culture, water serves as a symbol of prosperity and life. The unique inward motion in which the fountain’s water flows is representative of riches being poured into one’s life. The motion of the water’s flow is also symbolic of the wealth retained in Suntec City, and this is how the fountain came by its name. The design motif has since been utilized in other fountains.

It is believed that visitors who come to the Fountain of Wealth can obtain considerable good luck or riches of their own by walking around the center of the fountain’s base three times while maintaining contact with the water at all times.

The Fountain of Wealth has become a popular element of pop culture. For example, in 2002, the third season of The Amazing Race was being filmed, and contestants on the show were required to collect a clue from the Fountain of Wealth. Likewise, the fountain was prominently featured in the blockbuster Indian movie, Krrish. The fountain is also a favorite location of world renowned magician, Cyril Takayama. He has performed tricks at the fountain’s base on multiple occasions.

The Fountain of Wealth is constructed of silicon bronze. In the center of the fountain is a circular ring that is supported by four large, angled columns. In terms of height, the fountain measures approximately 45 feet tall, and the entire structure occupies a square area of just over 5,500 feet. The design, patternmaking, manufacturing, and installation of the Fountain of Wealth was conducted by DCG Design and Meridian Projects, a firm located in Melbourne, Australia. Surrounding the Fountain of Wealth are five block towers that are symbolic of the five fingers found on the human hand. The fountain is representative the hand’s palm.

Visitors to Singapore are encouraged to visit the Fountain of Wealth. Suntec City, where the fountain is located, is home to some of the best shopping Singapore has to offer, and there are plenty of activities to engage in. Walk around times for the fountain do change according to the season, so a visitor should be sure to check the most recent schedule before visiting.

4 Ways to Decorate Commercial Outdoor Areas

As you open doors for your new business, you want your commercial space to be as inviting to your potential customers and investors. You've got it all planned out; a tastefully decorated office in a busy, flourishing hub. Here, you can proudly invite your clients, have them take a seat at one of those comfortable couches, and entertain them as you talk about your goals. But even if you have designer interiors, nothing welcomes them better than an impressive outdoors. In fact, it's important that you pay attention to this part of your building, because it's the first part your customers see.

How can you beautify your outdoor space? Take a look at some of our suggestions:

Get your garden landscaped. If you have a wide, empty space outdoors, you might want to consider landscaping. Show of your commitment to the environment by creating a posh imagery of healthy trees, flowering plants, and potted shrubs. Arrange it uniformly for a structured look, or break off from the symmetry with a modern twist. Imagine this: perfectly manicured plants against a gorgeous backdrop of flowers—what could be more impressive? A well maintained landscaped garden helps create a good impression for you and your company. Now, we’re off to a good start!

Install an outdoor fountain. If your space isn’t wide enough to showcase a landscape, how about adding a water feature? Many industrial and commercial buildings make use of this installation to beautify their empty corners. Place your outdoor fountain in the foyer, the reception, the lawn or the passageway. Modern outdoor fountains add a contemporary twist that will suit urban buildings. Waterfall fountains with light illuminations amuse your guests with a cascade of liquid glow.  A fountain will not only be pleasant to look at but will help with masking unwanted noises.

Adorn it with a sculpture. Want to leave a mark with your commercial spot? Make it more memorable by adding an interesting sculpture within the exterior. Invite an artist to take part in constructing a noteworthy installation outside your office. It could be a modern twist to a nostalgic theme. It could be a human sculpture, personifying your business goals. Or it could be a contemporary gem, assembled in practical and intelligent materials, that will create a buzz for your company.

Brand it. Make a banner and place it outside for all to see. Have your business name carved out in large blocks for people to take photos with. Construct a vibrant corner filled with information about your vision and mission. Or create a giant logo that will easily let people know about your company. Make it big, and make it creative. This way, you can leave a big impression on every passerby.

Get your business noticed by choosing the right décor for your exterior. These four are among the many options you have in order to increase exposure and to gain clients. Instead of just focusing on your office’s interiors, give time and detail to your outdoor part of your building. You’ll never know who might pass by and give you a chance at the investment of your life.

How to Find the Best Spot for Your Outdoor Fountain

Pinning to have an outdoor fountain installed in your property, but confused where to put it? You're not alone. A lot of homeowners, in their desire to beautify their home, have purchased fountains only to place them in less-attractive parts of the house. Avoid this mistake; learn how to find the right spot for your outdoor fountain, right from the pros!

When it comes to water features, location is key. It's not about how beautifully landscaped your house is. An outdoor fountain can immediately transform a plain backdrop into a beautiful, relaxing space. Now, before you begin shopping for your water feature, it is best to know which place you're going to put it, and if it suits your needs.

  1. Pick up a ruler and measure the area. You may want a large outdoor fountain, but the space isn't enough to accommodate the installation. This is a big no-no. What you want is a water feature that simply complements the size of your outdoors. Once this is discerned, let's move on to the next step.
  2. Choose the spot where it is most cohesive with the setting. It could be in the middle of your garden. It could be at the side, or you may have a wall fountain. It could be near the patio. One way to discern the best spot is where you can actually enjoy viewing your garden and enjoy its tranquil sound.
  3. Understand that your outdoor fountain is meant to be seen. For bigger yards, make it a focal point. For smaller gardens, incorporate it into your lush plants and create a nostalgic, flowery backdrop. At best, it should be a place where you and your favorite people are more likely to hang around. Installing your outdoor fountain where it is less seen makes it useless.
  4. A small glance at the window can help. Imagine this: the peaceful sight of your outdoor fountain, greeting you as you open your windows. You want your installation to be enjoyed from the inside too.
  5. Other than the aesthetics, your outdoor fountain also requires one thing: electricity. With that, you want to install your water feature nearby an outlet where you can easily plug the installation in. You don’t want it to be far away from the source, as cords and wires can be a hassle to hide.
  6. Avoid noisy areas. One reason why you bought your outdoor fountain is the serene splashing of water it produce. However, if you place it in a corner where there are too many sounds, you won’t be able to enjoy it as much. Place your fountain away from the busy honking of the vehicles, heavily crowded spaces and loud audio.
  7. Keep the safety of your children, and pets, in check. Tuck the cords of your outdoor fountain so that they won’t trip on it. Install your water feature in corners where they can still enjoy the external section of your home, without feeling limited.

By following these tips, you can discover the perfect section for your outdoor fountain in no time! Now, shop around, and enjoy your relaxing water installation in your beautiful garden.
