How to Create an Outdoor Tribute Space
Losing a loved one, whether a person or a pet, is a trying time for anyone. The death of a family member affects many people. The most effective method of keeping their memory alive is to remember all of the good times you spent with them. Creating a dedicated outdoor space where you can spend time reflecting on these memories can offer peace and respite from your grief. Memories of our loved ones offer a sense of closure, and eventually, happiness. Creating a memorial or tribute space is also a wonderful way to honor your dearly departed.
If you decide to create an outdoor tribute space in your garden or backyard, there are a few elements it should have in order to make it more special. For example, one of these items is a bench. This provides a comfortable space for you to sit and reflect on your memories. Outdoor benches come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but it is important to find one that is comfortable for you to rest on.
Next, you might consider adding shrubbery and plants to your outdoor memorial space. The small garden you create does not have to be elaborate or large. It can be as simple as planting one or two rosebushes next to your bench or adding a few hanging pots of petunias nearby. If your loved one had a particular favorite flower or shrub, then this offers another great method of honoring their memory. The scent of the flowers will not only smell good, but it will also help you recall memories of your loved one.
Alternately, if you do want to or are unable to add flowers to your outdoor space, then you might wish to add a memorial plaque. Memorial plaques can be small and unobtrusive or large and ornate. The decision is yours. These special plaques can also be engraved with the name or nickname of your loved one and any special messages you have for them.
Finally, consider adding an outdoor fountain to your memorial space. People grieve in all different types of manners, and the grieving process can take a long time. However, if you do find yourself overwhelmed with grief, the soothing sounds of trickling water can induce a sense of relaxation and tranquility. Again, the size and elaborateness of the fountain you choose is entirely up to you. There are hundreds of different types of outdoor fountains you can choose from.
Creating an outdoor tribute space to a loved one isn’t always an easy process. It will take some time to design the space and place all of the accents exactly how you would like for them to be; however, once it is finished, it will afford you a wonderful spot in which to sit and reflect on those who have departed all too soon.
