Everything is nicer when there is a little bit more beauty in your life, wouldn’t you agree? There are a few things that you can do to improve the overall look of your home. This will make the space more comfortable and inviting, and turn it into a place that you want to come home to. One of these things includes indoor fountains. We will be covering some of the more commonly asked questions relating to these fountains.

How are Indoor Fountains Powered?

For most models, no additional water line is needed. Smaller fountains can simply be plugged into the wall and then have water added into the basin. If you are looking for a larger model, or a wall fountain, the process may be different. You may need to install an auto-fill and drain feature into your fountain. If you are unsure about how to power your fountain, call the manufacturer for more detailed instructions. They may be able to send a technician to your home to help you install the fountain.

How Do I Avoid Water Splashing Out?

When set up correctly, you do not typically have to worry about water coming out of the fountain. However, there are a few precautions that you could take just in case. First, do not overfill it with water. Leave between ½ inch and 1 inch of space at the top of the fountain. Place it in an area that is not a high-traffic spot. This will reduce the chances that someone will run around the corner and knock it over. Finally, do not place an outdoor fountain in the house. These models are meant to splash more frequently, so they cannot be used as a replacement.

What Kind of Water Should Be Used?

Optimally, you should be using distilled water in your fountain. This is because it keeps the basin looking nice and clean. If you use regular water, the minerals will eventually start leaving marks on the basin. These can become stains that are unpleasant to look at. They can also disturb the functionality of the fountain.

How Can I Control the Sound That the Water Makes?

The sound that comes from the flowing water will differ depending on which model you purchase. However, there are a few ways that you can manually adjust the sounds that are produced. Check your pump to see if there are any options for adjusting it. As well, you can either add or remove water from the basin to change the noise. More water in your basin will soften the noise your fountain makes and less water will make your fountain louder.  Many of our clients that need a good background noise in a large room will select a large fountain like the Deep Creek Falls that will create a lot of noise and not take any floor space.

Can I leave my fountain on all night?

Typically, you should be able to leave your fountain on as long as you want to. The only reason that you would need to turn it off is if there is not enough water in the fountain. Although this is the case for most fountains, check the instructions for your particular model to see if there are different instructions.

How much power will my fountain use?

Fountains that are average in size will not use a large amount of power. It will cost approximately the same if you had a lamp plugged into the wall. If you leave your fountain on 24/7 it is likely that you will notice an increase in your electricity bill, but you may decide that it is worth the extra expense. However, some models do have an energy-saving mode. This is when the fountain will turn itself off after a certain amount of time.
